New Global Chairman Appointed

We are pleased to announce the appointment of John Nicholas as the new Chairman of the IWFS International Council of Management (Council).  John is the immediate past Chair of the Europe Africa region and was appointed as Chair of Council at its meeting on 21 October 2025. He was subsequently presented with the IWFS Chain of Office by President of the Society, Chris Bonsall, at the Asia Pacific festival in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

John is married to Joan. He was brought up as an “ex-pat brat” and then enjoyed a career in Finance in multi-national corporations travelling extensively around the world and spending a total of 15 years living in Switzerland. His family, including 4 grandchildren aged between 2 and 19, is scattered (in the US (Washington State), Australia and Spain as well as in the UK.  During his tenure and using his wide experience of working internationally, John aims to continue the efforts of his predecessors by strengthening further the collaboration between regions to sustain the Society’s leading role as a global wine and food Society as it moves towards its Centenary in 2033.

Congratulations John and we hope that you will welcome him and Joan and wish him all the best for a successful term as Chair of the IWFS Council.  Thanks also go to Mike Donohoe, of the Americas, who is the immediate past Chair of Council, having stood down at the end of his two-year tenure.
