Winemaker Dinner

Alex Cassegrain

of Cassegrain Wines

The Blue Door, Surry Hills

Shop 8, 38 Waterloo St, Surry Hills

23rd October 2025, 6:30pm

The New South Wales branch of the International Wine & Food Society warmly invites you to a special evening at hosted by Cassegrain Wines, one of Australia’s pioneering French-inspired wineries, at The Blue Door in Surry Hills featuring a Tasting Menu using the most ethical and regenerative produce available.

Founded in 1985 by John and Eva Cassegrain and now led by their sons Alex and Philippe, Cassegrain continues to marry traditional French techniques with Australian passion and innovation. Chief Winemaker Alex Cassegrain — the ASVO Winemaker of the Year 2021 — will personally host our tasting and share insights into the family’s multi-generational winemaking journey

The evening will feature a guided tasting of eight Cassegrain wines, paired with a 7+ course tasting menu that reflects the most regenerative & ethical produce available from NSW best farmers.

We especially encourage all members to attend if available. As the penultimate event of the year, this evening is a wonderful chance for our whole membership to come together and share in a truly unique experience. Cassegrain’s philosophy blends parcels of grapes from diverse New South Wales regions, creating wines that reflect both the traditions of old France and the sophistication of Australian winemaking. It promises to be an enriching and convivial evening that showcases the some of the best of our state's viticulture.

The Wines:

  • NV Stone Circle Sparkling Blanc de Blanc (NSW)

  • 2025 Edition Noir Riesling (Central Ranges, NSW)

  • 2018 Reserve Fromenteau (Chardonnay, Tumbarumba, NSW)

  • 2019 Reserve Pinot Noir (Rylstone & in the Central Ranges, NSW)

  • 2021 Edition Noir Nebbiolo (Hilltops, NSW)

  • 2018 Reserve Falerne (Hilltops & Central Ranges, NSW)

  • 2018 Reserve Shiraz (Central Ranges, Hilltops & Canberra District, NSW)
