Introducing our New WhatsApp Community!

We’re excited to launch a dedicated WhatsApp group for our Branch — a lively space designed to bring our members closer together and make it easier to share the things we love most: great wine, great food, and great company.

This group will be our digital gathering place. A spot where members can:

·         Stay up to date with upcoming Society events

·         Swap restaurant recommendations — especially those precious BYO gems

·         Share memorable bottles, meals, and discoveries

·         Hear about interesting local tastings, producer visits, and wine events happening around NSW

·         Spark conversations, ask questions, and connect with fellow enthusiasts between our in‑person gatherings

Think of it as the conversation that continues long after the glasses are empty.

Our goal is simple: to make our community more connected, more informed, and more inspired. Whether you’re hunting for a great bottle to take to dinner, curious about a new restaurant opening, or wanting to share a standout food-and-wine moment, this group will be the easiest way to stay in the loop and contribute to the collective palate of our Society.

How do I join?                                                                   

·        Membership of the group will be ‘Opt-In’ only, either by ticking the relevant box on your Annual Membership Renewal form, or by emailing the branch secretary on iwfs.nsw.branchinfo@gmail.com

·        All membership and event information will continue to be sent via the existing channels (email) – so you won’t miss this if you choose not to join

·        If you wish to join, you will need to have WhatsApp downloaded on your iPhone or Android, with an account set up using the mobile phone number attached to your IWFS Membership Account

A few notes on privacy and guidelines on content

·        The group is not to be used for advertising or for commercial purposes – members are free to share details of wine and food-related sales or events, on the condition that they do not have a commercial interest.

o   Exceptions may be granted at the sole discretion of the moderator where there is exclusive benefit being offered to branch members

·        Membership will be available to subscribed branch members only – no non-members or third parties will ever be invited to join

·        You can leave at any time – either by unsubscribing directly within the application, or by emailing iwfs.nsw.branchinfo@gmail.com

·        Your contact details will be kept secure, and not passed on to any third parties

·        WhatsApp is a secure, group-messaging mobile application with high quality security and privacy controls built in.
