President's Dinner

To borrow from an oft-used music and party prefix, for The Presidents Dinner, the theme was “Retro”!

Early 20th century themed classic French dinner. The idea was to do a classic French-British menu and pair it with wine, also classically, as was done in times gone by; with a 'Bubbly', 'Burgundy', 'Claret' and 'Pudding Wine'.

The Taj Mahal Hotel in Bombay, publicizing their Independence Day menu from August 1947, gave us both impetus and the location for this Presidents Dinner. Chef Raghu Deora, the Sous Chef at Zodiac Grill for many years, has delved into the Taj's immense historic records and also drawn on his own reserves of experience to draw out a fabulous menu.

To keep with the theme, members dressed in sync with that era, Retro lounge suits / the national dress and the Ladies with vintage styled dresses and puffed blouses with sarees made this an elegant evening.
