March Events

March 14, 2013
Theme 2009 Bordeaux Tasting and Dinner at The Botanical
Venue The Botanical
Location 169 Domain Rd, South Yarra, VIC 3141
Date Mar 14, 2013

In March, IWFS Victoria will be holding an additional event for this year – a Tasting/Dinner to take a sneak preview of the much lauded Bordeaux wines from the 2009 vintage.  It will take place Thursday March 14 in the private room at The Botanical in South Yarra.  President Charles Harper has great pleasure in inviting you to come along.  Please note that it is limited to 14 members and guests.

This dinner will show 12 wines from the 2009 vintage, three brackets each of four wines, each bracket matched with a classical dish to suit the wines.  Each of the main areas of Bordeaux will be featured.

Regardless of whether you are a lover of Bordeaux or simply curious to see what all the hype is about, this will be a fun event.  Only last month, Robert Parker commented that after just spending the last two weeks of January in Bordeaux and retasting the 2009 Bordeaux in bottle, that 2009 Bordeaux ‘is unquestionably the greatest vintage I have ever tasted’.  The nature of the vintage is also such that while it will clearly age and develop over time, it is more approachable in its youth than many other vintages.  So here’s your chance to take a first look.  We will of course be looking at it again in years to come.

Do come along and form your own preliminary view of these much heralded wines.
