The Committee of the New South Wales branch of the International Wine & Food Society is delighted to invite you to our second Bring-A-Bottle dinner for 2026, which will take place on 9th July at The Sanderson, in Sydney CBD, hosted by Mr Asa Joseph.

This smaller-format gathering will create a fun, informal atmosphere where members can come together, share treasures from their personal cellars, and enjoy discussing them over dinner at a local restaurant.

The theme for this evening has been chosen by Mr Oliver Winsley, who brought along the bottle of the night to our Tasmanian BYOB event earlier in the year, and has chosen the theme for this evening The Wines of South America.

 

Here’s how it works:

The format for this dinner changes things up a bit. Usually at our dinners, the host will carefully curate a selection of wines to accompany the menu. This time, at our Bring a Bottle Dinner, the wine selection is up to you!

Every guest is asked to bring a bottle of wine to share with the table. What you bring is entirely up to you – all we ask is that you follow the theme for the event. This time it’s the Wines of South America. South America is one of the most dynamic wine regions in the world, home to high‑altitude Malbecs from Mendoza, elegant Cabernets from Chile’s Maipo Valley, aromatic Torrontés from Salta, and a growing wave of exciting, small‑production wines from Patagonia, Uruguay, and Brazil. This dinner is an opportunity for members to explore the continent’s diversity through the bottles they choose to bring — whether a favourite producer, a hidden gem, or something you’ve been curious to open– there will be no formal presentation of the wines, but we will certainly talk about them as we go.

At the end of the evening –here’s the exciting bit – we will vote on the best bottle of the night, and the winner will receive a prize!

 

About the Restaurant & Menu:

The Sanderson is one of Sydney’s most acclaimed modern dining rooms, known for its polished service and beautifully executed dishes. Its specialty is premium wood‑fired and dry‑aged steaks — rich, savoury, and perfectly suited to the bold, structured reds of South America. Whether it’s an Argentine Malbec, a Chilean Cabernet, or something more adventurous from Uruguay or Patagonia, the menu at The Sanderson offers ideal pairings for the wines members will bring.

The cost of your ticket will cover all food and drinks on arrival as well as any corkage and service charges.

Please Note: This event will be small – 7-8 guests maximum. This is to ensure that every guest gets to taste every wine. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis, and payment will be required to confirm.
