Bob Dickinson offered to host a Bodacious Stag for us this year - and of course we took him up on it. He reached deep into our cellar and pulled out the trophy wines we shamelessly saved for such events, and bodaciously paired all with a fabulous menu for the evening from Chef du Cuisine and Proprietor Wayne Cameron Eldred at Tarpon Bend. We will enjoy our reception appetizers with 2002 Dom Ruinart Champagne en Magnum, and follow with 2001 Chevalier Montrachet, Grand Cru, Les Demoiselles, Louis Latour paired with the King Crab seafood course. Next we enjoy the 2005 Volnay 1er Cru Champans, d’Angerville with Duck with Roasted Parsnips and Heirloom Carrots. Now with the main course we are presented with the ultimate in bodaciousness, the side by side 1990 Chateau Lafite Rothschild and 1990 Chateau Latour with Frenched Veal Chop au Jus with roasted potatoes and wild mushrooms. We are still lingering in ecstasy when then 1998 Penfolds Grange is served with Aged Cheeses and dried fruits. Finally for dessert Wayne whips up his divine Orange Blossom Custard to complement our 2001 Lafaurie-Peyraguey Sauternes.
