The best way to enjoy great wines is to share them with other aficionados. The organiser delved into his Eurocave and other stores, then had a very difficult time rejecting many of the 30 possibles to get down to just 12 for the tasting. Tokay, sherry, Alsace, Australia – these were all postponed for other occasions. Eight runners are declared below. The other four, all grape commercial wines of equivalent quality dating from 1975, 1992, 2003 and 2003, will be served blind, for added interest. Eight countries and two hemispheres are represented.
