Programme

Monday 25th April.

Check in to the Hotel le Maréchal.  Registration will be at 16h00.  Our welcome reception and dinner will be in the Hotel at 19h00.

Tuesday 26th April.

Leave the hotel at 08h30 to drive to Rouffach, for a tour of the facilities and a tasting at Domaine Muré.  Then we will drive on to Domaine Schlumberger in Guebwiller for a tour and a tasting, followed by a light lunch at a local restaurant. 

After lunch, at 14h00 we will drive to the delightful old village of Eguisheim, where we will enjoy a walking tour, led by David Ling, who lives there.  We will then visit Domaine Emile Beyer for a tasting, after which we will return to our hotel in time for a short rest before we depart for a 19h00 dinner at Restaurant Bartholdi, which is about 15 minutes walk from the Hotel, and specialises in traditional local cuisine.

Wednesday 27th April.  

We depart at 09h00 for the drive to Wettolsheim, where we will have a tasting at Domaine Jean-Louis Schoepfer.   There will be an opportunity for a short stroll around the village, after which we continue to the Domaine Cattin at Voegtlinshoffen, where we will visit their superb new Belvedere tasting room and wine bar.  It has fabulous views over the surrounding countryside, and we will have a presentation, a tasting and a light lunch.   After lunch at 14h30 we will drive on to Kaysersberg, where we will visit Domaine Weinbach/Faller for a tasting.  We will then return to our hotel.  In the evening you will be free to do as you please. 

Thursday 28th April. 

We leave the hotel at 09h30 and drive to Riquewihr for a tour and tasting at Dopff au Moulin.   They are well known as one of the original instigators of Cremant d’Alsace, and have been a good friend of IWFS over the years.  After the tasting we will have a light lunch at a local bistro, and then enjoy some free time in Riquewihr before boarding our bus at 15h30 to return to our hotel.   At 19h20 our bus will leave the hotel to take us to dinner at the renowned Auberge de l’Ill, which boasts two Michelin stars.

Friday 29th April.  

We will leave the hotel at 09h00 and drive to the picturesque village of Mittelbergheim for a tour and tasting at Domain Armand Gilg.  Then, at 11h45 we will head to Itterswiller for lunch at Restaurant Emmebuckel.  At 14h00 we will continue to Ribeauville for a tour and tasting at Domaine Bott Frères, before returning to our hotel in time to get ready for our farewell dinner.  This will be at Kientzheim, the chateau headquarters of the Confrérie St Etienne d’Alsace.  We will leave the hotel at 17h30 for the drive to Kientzheim, and will visit the Confrérie’s wine museum and take part in a traditional ceremony and tasting in the 12th century cellar, before sitting down in their chapter room for a very special dinner.

 

Saturday 30th April.   

You will be free to leave after breakfast.  There is a railway station in Colmar with good connections to Strasbourg and Basel, and from there to destinations in Switzerland, France and Italy.
