EVENT DESCRIPTION:

This year’s last event is a major change from previous years in two ways.  One: the Annual Business Meeting (ABM) will be conducted in the evening immediately before a regular stag event.  Two: dress will be the only casual aspect of the dinner.  For the combination to work, we need your cooperation in preparing for the ABM so that we can take care of our business before beginning the fun.

Now, on to the dinner… For the last few years, we have had terrific, freewheeling, casual dinners with bin-end, left-over wines.  Great fun.  This year we want the same level of enjoyment, but from some of our best wines and more structure to the tasting.  Each of the six courses will have a blind comparison of two wines, generally similar in style and rating, but in most cases radically different in pricing.  Either there is at least a $100 difference in the value of the wine or both of the wines are valued at that amount or greater. Bob Dickinson, the Chair of the Wine Committee, will lead us through the tasting.

There’s no slouching in the food.  Chris Zoller, the Chair of the Event Committee, designed a menu appropriate for a blow-out stag.  Start with sausage, sweetbreads, and empanadas.  Follow with prawns, lamb, beef rib-eye, and dulce de leche.  Plenty to absorb 12 different wines.

Because the event is preceded by the ABM, this should be the most important event of the year.  Why not serve some of the best wines and make it the most educational?  We have been buying much more expensive, aged wines for the cellar this year, so let’s taste what the difference in quality is!

We moved the ABM to May, moved it to Coral Gables, and put it in the evening before a regular dinner. There are important items on the ABM agenda.  For the event, we are pulling out the stops in the wine and food.

YOUR BRANCH NEEDS HIGH PARTICIPATION AND YOU WILL WANT TO ATTEND!
