In honor of May, National Heritage Month, we traditionally focus on food that celebrates our heritage.
This time we opted to bring the Ladies Branch and their guests to Saturday lunch at the National Museum, and open the event to friends and guests from the Museum Foundation of the Philippines as well.
Petty Johannot, former Curator at the Barbier-Mueller Museum in Geneva and now Professional Lecturer at the University of the Philippines, opened with an insightful talk highlighting her recently published book Paths of Origin, followed by a wonderful Filipino food celebration catered by Margarita Fores paired with light summery wines (a Roxé Pinot Nero, Toso and a Cotes de Provence 2009, Mas de Cadenet).
After the lunch, National Museum Director Jeremy Barnes led members and guests on a tour of the new wing of the museum. Also on display were a range of elegant indigineous and woven fabrics and jewellery.
