Virtual Wine Tasting

Theme Virtual Wine Tasting
Venue Zoom
Location @ your Home
Date Aug 10, 2020
Time 7:00PM EST
Host IWFS Toronto Members
Wine Selection Member's

Our Wine Director, David Beauroy, will choose 5-7 Members to talk about their wine based on the brief submission filled in on the IWFSToronto.Org web site either by wine oddity, story, origin, or value. His choice of the 5-7 speakers will be advised by July 30th and to all participants a few days before the actual event, so you can also prepare your dissertation and the ensuing discussion.

The event will be carried over ZOOM.  Please register on the IWFSToronto.Org web site (and press the “send” button at the bottom of the form). You will be sent the Zoom Log-in details and password.  Complete the form if you have a wine you want to recommend.  The only criteria, the wine must be available at the LCBO.  This is so other Members can purchase one of the selected wines at the LCBO and joint in the discussion on the Zoom call.

The Event:

IWFS Toronto's second virtual wine event with 20 Members in attendance.  I will say this was a complete experiment.  It worked!  We asked members to submit their personal favourite wine and speak to the wine.  The event was adjudicated By David Beauroy as he added interesting notes to each of the Member's wines.

Now we are in the time of Covid-19.  So, one Member had the event in her Palatial Garden with appropriate social distancing and the Zoom event projected on a huge screen in their back yard.

The surprises came in the form of very good value wines from our local Government controlled wine distributer. The surprising thing all wines were reasonably priced with some at great value.  The common theme was that none of the wines were from the Designer wine producers with their designer pricing.  The participating members shared their love of their particular wine and expanded other Members horizons on what to buy in the future.

The event encouraged members to go to their local LCBO and purchase the wines being featured and follow along as the tasting event unfolded.

On a personal note I was blown away by the Gabbiano Reserva Chianti and tried to order the wine from the LCBO.
