Americas Lake Tahoe

Overview

The Lake Tahoe Branch was founded in 1996 with 33 charter members who felt the area needed and could support a group of people who knew, appreciated and enjoyed fine wine and food in the company of good friends. The organization grew rapidly, more than doubling in size, and received its official charter from the Board of Govenors of the Americas in October 1998.  Currently, membership is capped at 125 members.

The Lake Tahoe Branch is very active, holding about eight events during the year in the Lake Tahoe, Reno and Carson Valley areas. A variety of monthly functions is planned including luncheons, dinners at restaurants and in members' homes, outdoor gourmet picnics, farm to table events, wine tastings and tours to wine areas.  We strive to present unique, themed menus paired with wine from our own cellar.  Occasionally, we feature prominent wineries at dinners with visiting vintners. Past events have featured French, Italian, Spanish, Oriental, Mexican and American cuisine. Events range from informal lobster feasts and barbeque dinners with cowboy entertainment to our formal Holiday Gala.

Lake Tahoe Branch maintains its own wine cellar to enable us to purchase wines when they are affordable, to age wines properly and to be able to serve fine wines at reasonable prices at our functions. Currently the wine cellar holds about 1200-1500 bottles of wine from around the world.

Since 1997, the Branch has toured Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley, Dry Creek, Monterey, Carmel Valley, El Dorado and Amador counties, San Luis Obispo and Arroyo Grande, Santa Lucia Highlands, Los Olivos and Santa Ynez, Walla Walla, and the Willamette Valley. Members visit several wineries daily for private tastings, enjoying lunch at the winery or in renowned restaurants. Evening meals feature local wines and gourmet food at leading restaurants.

The Lake Tahoe Branch is a non-profit 501(c)(7), and was incorporated in the state of Nevada in 2008.

The Lake Tahoe Branch welcomes guests from other branches on a space-available basis.  If you plan to visit our area and would like to attend one of our functions, please contact us.

Membership in our Branch is by invitation only.  All Branches are autonomous in terms of membership qualifications.  For details, please
