Dear Wine & Food Friends,

Please join us on Sunday, April 5^th, at The Houstonian Hotel for a delicious dinner prepared by Executive Chef Neal Cox.

We will be dining inside the hotel on the second floor. The evening will begin with a champagne reception at 6:00pm with dinner to follow at 7:00pm. The dress for the evening is coat & tie for the gentlemen and cocktail attire for the ladies. The Houstonian is located at 111 North Post Oak Lane. Self-parking is available, at no cost, in the garage.

Wine: **NV Pol Roger Brut Reserve** A nicely balanced champagne, pale yellow with lots of bubbles. Yeasty with plenty of granny smith apple, pear, and brioche notes. A great Finish! **2017 Las Pizarras Chardonnay, Chile** This Chardonnay is really fascinating and it’s even sharper and more restrained than the 2016. It has high acidity with vinification and aging in large French barriques for almost 13 months. It’s young and austere and took some time in the glass to open up. It’s sharp and citrusy, the palate has volume and depth and some nutty notes appear after some time. A monumental mineral white, with coastal freshness that’s amazing. Wine Advocate 98 points. **2015 Nit de Nin Coma d’en Romeu tinto Granacha, Chile** This wine comes from old vines planted 72 years ago. It is aged in very large oak barrels for 18 months. It’s the essence of the Mediterranean, with tons of rosemary, thyme, lavender, wild flowers and fine mineralogy. This is a stunning wine that’s simply amazing. Wine Advocate 98 points. **2015 Willowbrook Kaufman Sunnyslope Pinot Noir, Sonoma ** Awarded 99 points at California State Fair Wine Judging. A very Burgundian Pinot, with lots of red fruit, mushrooms, Forest Floor, and cola with plenty of acidity. It’s smooth and smokey with a nice long finish. **2016 Purple Angel’n Secret Carmenere, Chile** “The Complexity of this is something very special, with dark berries, stone iodine, and oyster shells. Full-bodied, very tight and polished with creamy tannins that envelop your palate, caressing every inch. Deep and dark fruit and wet earth at the Finish.” James Suckling 98 points. **2011 Chateau Guiraud 1er Grand Cru Sauternes** “Ripe and unctuous, but with a deliciously racy orange streak running through the core of creamy pear, fig and green plum flavors. Super creamy on the Finish and very long with honey-suckle and almond notes echoing on and on. James Suckling W.S. 99 points.
