Dear Wine & Food Society Friends,

Please join us for a night of wine and food at Masraff’s Restaurant on Friday, March 31^st. Masraff’s, long recognized as a premier restaurant in Houston, is located at 1753 Post Oak Boulevard.

Event coordinator Brooke Wilkes and manager Brian Maier have been working with me over these last few months to bring you this great dining experience. And Chef Johnathon Salgado did an excellent job in pairing the featured wines with some wonderful food.

The evening will begin at 6:00 pm with passed hors d’oeuvres followed by dinner at 6:45 pm. The cost of the event is $180 for each attendee and this includes valet parking. The attire for the evening will be jackets for the gentlemen and appropriate dress for the ladies. This event is limited to the first 48 people to register. Please send checks to:

Wine: Moet Imperial Rose - The color is an elegant golden straw yellow with amber highlights. Its aromas are radiant, revealing bright yellow-fleshed honey fruits, floral nuances and elegant blond notes. The palate is seductive, richly flavorful and smooth combining generosity and subtlety, fullness and vigor, followed by a delicately fresh crispiness, to reveal the magical balance of Champagne. La Chablisienne, Chateau Grenouilles Grand Cru 2001 - Made with 100% Chardonnay, wonderful earth tone of mineral and stones on the palate with bright citrus fruit on the nose. Retour Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley 2012 - 40-45 year old vines, aged in 100% French Oak. Harvested by hand to ensure the best grape quality. Unfiltered to give a bigger body. Bright red fruits, roasted hazelnuts, and black pepper on the nose. Red Schooner Voyage 2 Malbec - This malbec has a dense, dark red tone and is unfiltered which gives an aggressive texture. After a few minutes in the glass, the tannins smooth out nicely and you will smell scents of ripe plums and cherries layered with hints of dark chocolate. Ridge Lytton Springs Zinfandel 2007 - A blend of 71% Zinfandel, 22% Petite Sirah and 7% Carignane. Aged for fifteen months in american oak. The Zinfandel offers a nice candied fruit character while the Petite Sirah and Carignane bring earthy tones to the wine. Graham’s Vintage Port 1994 - Vintage port is not made every year like most still wines. Consequently, 1994 had a superb growing season. It soon became apparent during the vintage that the wines would be exceptional. The hint of caramel and raisins mixed with sugar makes this irresistible. It is sexy and intriguing with huge aging potential.
