This will be an exclusive opportunity to experience the best food and wine that Sicily has to offer, in one of the most elegant venues in Boston, The Algonquin Club of Boston.

The Reception, with passed Hors d'Oeuvres and Italian sparkling wine form the Franciacorta region, will be followed by a dinner prepared by Chef extraordinaire, Pino Guerrisi, in the Club's beautiful main dining room.

Azienda Agricola COS was founded in 1980 at an old family winery by Giambattista (Titta) Cilia, Giusto Occhipinti and Cirino (Rino) Strano, in the historic town of Bastonaca, in the Cerasuolo di Vittoria region of Sicily. The original property of three hectares was expanded in 1991 with the purchase of la Villa Fontane, adding an additional eight hectares.  In 2003, COS finished renovation of the Villa and opened their resort, Locanda COS, with luxurious accommodations and a fabulous restaurant, nestled in the vineyards of the Azienda. The property was further expanded in 2005 with purchase of an additional 20 hectares adjacent to the Villa Fontane property.

COS is renowned for its red wines made with indigenous grapes of the region and the use of terracotta amphorae for fermentation.  Their love of the region and its singular terroir produces some of the finest wines Italy has to offer.  Interest in their wine has generated 50 press articles since 2003. See http://www.cosvittoria.it/english/parlano.htm. Since 2005, COS is synonymous with Cerasuolo di Vittoria and has been designated with the coveted DOCG ranking. In April, 2010, a poll published by Wine & Spirits Magazine, ranked COS’s Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico as the 18th most popular Italian wine among restaurants in the United States and they have been featured in Decanter Magazine 6 times, most recently in March of 2012.  In that issue Decanter rated COS’s 2010 Frappato 17/20 and 4 stars.

This exclusive and unusual “Sicily in Boston” wine dinner was inspired by Carol McMullen and Sean Rush during their visit to the beautiful vineyards, resort and restaurant at Locanda COS during the summer of 2012.
