Annual Dinner (Black Tie)

Theme Annual Dinner (Black Tie)
Venue The Carlton Hotel
Location Bournmouth
Date Oct 28, 2012
Host Geoff & Clare/ Rob & May

Our next event is the annual dinner, which this year will be held at the four-star Carlton Hotel inBournemouth.  The hotel is located on the East Cliff and is, I’m sure, well known to all of you.  The restaurant has an excellent reputation for its cuisine, for which it has justifiably been awarded an AA rosette, and prides itself on using the finest fresh, seasonal produce.

The dinner has been organised jointly between Geoff and Clare James and Rob and May Haines and its format is based on the world-famous Beaune Banquet, which Geoff and Clare regularly attend.  The Banquet is held in Beaune every November as part of a three-day festival devoted to the food and wines of Burgundy and for those of us who have not experienced the Banquet itself the Carlton dinner is intended to give a real flavour of the event.  Details of the superb menu with accompanying wines are attached and, as you can see, this promises to be a very special evening.

A very attractive rate of £60.00 per double/twin room including breakfast has been negotiated for those wishing to stay the night, but this rate is restricted to 10 rooms only – so first come, first served!  Otherwise rooms are available at £80.00 per night with breakfast.  If you are interested in staying overnight please book with the hotel direct (ask to speak to Libby in the Conferencing Department if possible), not forgetting to mention that you are attending the IWFS dinner.

The dinner will be held in “La Causerie Suite” at the hotel.  We meet at 7.00 pm for an aperitif followed by dinner at 7.30 pm.  As usual for our annual dinner the dress code is black tie. The closing date for bookings is Saturday 20th October.
