“The menu is nicely compact, startlingly expensive, and a boon for the greedy.” So said John Walsh in The Independent when this country outpost of the famous Caldesi Restaurant and Cookery School in Marylebone opened in Bray three years ago. Moving in alongside some of the most prestigious chefs in the world was a brave move  for Giancarlo Caldesi who was born in Montepulciano, has lived in England for 30 years and is married to an English Katie. The accolades have been rolling in ever since and Caldesi is regarded as one of the best Italian restaurants in the country. Many of you will know of Giancarlo & Katie from their TV appearances and their cookery books.

Over lunch one day we had a long talk to Giancarlo’s general manager Vincenzo Di Monda and he has offered to produce for us a four course Italian Sunday Lunch of Antipasto, Primo, Secondo, Dolci and Caffé. The price will also include a glass of Prosecco as aperitif. As usual we leave the choice of drinks with your meal to you as many will be driving but they have a very interesting and reasonably priced wine list. Come along and enjoy a leisurely Sunday in a  little corner of Tuscany  in the home counties.
