One very hot Friday night in July seventeen members, including Terri Grant from the Cape Town branch, and two guests took over the dining room at the 17th  century inn The John Barleycorn  at Goring.  We enjoyed fish and chips or steak and ale pie before moving on to Goring village hall for a gig presented by the legendary Chris Barber and his jazz band.  Chris celebrated 61 years this year as a jazz band leader forming his first Barber New Orleans Jazz band in 1949 at the age of 19. Many members present had followed his progress through the years and  some had been members of  his club in 1954 when the band officially became The Chris Barber Jazz Band. A very hot but fun evening was enjoyed by all.
