Lunch at Ruchetta in Peppard.
This time we were very lucky when we returned to this lovely summer lunch venue, high up in the Chilterns, it didn’t pour with rain as it did last time we were here two years ago. As usual Angelo did a very special price for the branch and the plus was that Gianni, his chef from Ruchetta in Wokingham, who won the Society’s restaurant award in 2008 is now working at Peppard so we had a very good meal. We started with a glass of Prosecco in the garden and this was followed by a three course lunch the highlight of which was the main course -
Sella di cervo con ciliege e salsa al porto - Loin of venison with cherries and port sauce, spinach and fontina potato mash. A tender and flavoursome loin accompanied by a lovely sauce.
This was followed by a luscious -
Torta di cioccolato e pere con crema all’aceto balsamico
Chocolate and pear cake with balsamic cream
Angelo served a special red and a white Sicilian wine which he had just purchased in Italy.
We conclude with Coffee and Amaretti.
