Join us for a wine and food tour of the iconic Bordeaux region, visiting top chateaux in Pessac Léognan, Paulliac, Margaux and St. Emilion in the company of Caroline Matthews our local wine guide. Travel throughout will be by luxury coach.
Our tour will start after lunch on Tuesday 4th June with a guided walking tour of Bordeaux city centre, followed by an introduction to the wines and history of the region with Jane Anson. Jane is Decanter Magazine’s Bordeaux correspondent and has lived in the region since 2003. A four-course dinner with matched wines at the two-star ‘La Grande Maison’, run by Pierre Gagnaire, will complete our introduction to the region and its cuisine.
Our first full day on 5th June will take us to Pessac Léognan with visits to Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte and Chateau Haut-Bailly. We will return to Bordeaux for some free time before driving out to Bouilac for dinner at Le St. James (one-star).
Thursday 6th June will send us to Paulliac for a tour and tasting at Chateau Mouton Rothschild, then on to Chateau Beychevelle in St Julien where, as well as a tasting, we will also have lunch. Our final visit of the day will be to Chateau Giscours, in Margaux, before returning to Bordeaux for a free evening.
Friday will be focused on St Emilion. We will visit Chateau Pavie and Chateau Beausejour-Becot,with lunch at Chateau Pavie-Decesse. There will be opportunities to explore St Emilion itself and its underground monuments (optional) before we gather for an aperitif overlooking the town and our closing dinner at Le Logis de la Cadène (one-star).
On Saturday 8th June there are no activities scheduled.. We will check out from the hotel and go our separate ways.
Hotel: Our base for this tour will be the four-star Hotel Majestic. Booking details are shown in the panel opposite. Members are of course welcome to stay elsewhere but will be responsible for getting themselves to the Hotel Majestic, or other meeting point, on time. Parking restrictions in central Bordeaux make it particularly important that members are on time to meet the coach. The coach will not be able to wait for late-comers.
Travel: Bordeaux is well served by flights to Bordeaux Merignac airport from Gatwick and many UK regional airports and other airports worldwide. There is also a good train service.
PRICING AND PAYMENT
The cost of the events programme – excluding hotel accommodation and flights - for the Bordeaux Tour is 2,150 euros per member of IWFS, to be paid in full at the time of booking. For non-member guests (or partners who are not members of the Society) the cost is 2,300 euros.

Registrants have a cooling-off period of 14 days from the date of their booking during which they can cancel their reservation and receive a full refund. After that, no refunds will be given. Cancellations must be made in writing to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Cancellation and Medical Insurance
All those who register for the tour are strongly advised to take out travel insurance which covers cancellation (to apply from the date of the end of the cooling-off period) as well as medical insurance, particularly as EU health cover through the EHIC card may change post-Brexit.

Prices will be as follows
- Superior room, one double bed, single or double occupancy : 140 euros per night,
- Superior room, 2 beds : 150 euros per night,
- Privilege room, one double bed, single or double occupancy : 160 euros per night,
- Privilege room, 2 beds : 170 euros per night.
- Buffet breakfast : 15 euros per person,
- Local tax : 2 euros per person and per night (might increase in 2019).
