Overview

Under the leadership of President Ms Sachiko Yanagisono, a fifth branch opened in Japan on September 15 2019 – Nagoya. Nagoya is about 90 minutes from Tokyo by fast bullet train. President Ms Yanagisono is a Director of the Japan Sommelier Association.

Nagoya branch opened with 60 founding members.  Members and guests enjoyed an outstanding opening dinner at Shikemichi Restaurant Matsuura.

This branch is a dual gender branch aiming to have a lot of fun but with a serious approach to the appreciation of fine wine and food.  Events will be held every three months or so.  It was excellent that Naoki Sato, President of Sister Branch Edo (Tokyo), and Dennis Tanaka, Founding President of Sister Branch Tokyo Bay and an Executive Member of the IWFS Asia Pacific management committee, were both present at the opening dinner.  President of IWFS Asia Pacific, Yvonne Wallis, also flew in from Australia to attend this exciting event.

If you are interested in joining Nagoya Branch, please see the Contact Page and send an inquiry to let them know of your interest.
