Hong Kong's Blacktie Christmas Dinner was preceded by the evaluation of the meal, conducted in the private kitchen of the Grand Hyatt with food connoisseurs Nellie Lee, Monica Cheung and Mary Ahern joining the Committee to taste and judge every course, every plated arrangement, every taste combination. At the same time, thirteen wines were tasted, with those delivering the very best food-to-wine matches selected. It was actually quite an interesting, and empowering, experience to deliver critiques (all constructive) with both the chefs and several of the wine merchants in attendance.
On the night, the function was attended by 60 guests and members. The event was most enjoyable – the food and wine matched well. Hong Kong member Nellie Lee spoke about the wine during the meal. The table prize was the latest IWFS monograph by Sid Cross! A great night.
