ITINERARY

Day 1 Sydney . Griffith . Mildura

Depart Sydney in the morning, over flying the western
plains to Griffith where you spend the day visiting various
wineries from large commercial estates to the smaller
boutique ones. Late afternoon you re-board the aircraft for
the short flight into Mildura. Dinner is at the Rendezvous
Restaurant, one of Victoria’s finest country establishments.

Day 2 Mildura

This morning we board the historic PS Melbourne (a wood
fired paddle steamer) for a morning cruise through the
Murray lock system. For lunch we visit an Italian Boutique
winery—Oak Valley estate to sample wine & local produce
before heading to Chateau Mildura birthplace of wine
making in the area. Tonight is a special treat with an Italian
banquet at Stefano de Pieri’s.— a place of pilgrimage for
gourmands!

Day 3 Mildura . Broken Hill

The flight this morning is only short to the mining city of
Broken Hill. Here you will get to visit a number of art
galleries such as well known artists like Pro Hart. From
here you travel west to Silverton, an late 19th century
mining town. On the return you stop at the “Living Desert
Art Trail, created in 1993 by twelve internationally renown
sculptors.

Day 4 Broken Hill . Marree . Lake Eyre . Marree (by road)

You depart early this morning for the flight over the Flinders
Ranges and Wilpena Pound to Marree where we meet our
guide Reg Dodd. Reg is a local aboriginal whose family are
the traditional owners of the area. Today he conducts tours
during the winter season. In the summer he represents the
aboriginal community at the United Nations. To get to the
lake we travel across the open plains of the Great Artesian
Basin, passing through the dingo proof fence. We spend
the day in and around the lake, returning to Marree in the
late afternoon. Before dinner we suggest you join the locals
in the Pubic Bar for a cool beer.

Day 5 Marree . Birdsville . Bourke

After breakfast the aircraft departs Marree and flies over
both Lake Eyre North & South before heading to the iconic
outback township of Birdsville. The day is taken up in and
around the town, with a visit to the Working Museum and of
course a drink at the Hotel. Late afternoon you re join the
aircraft for the flight to Bourke, stopping at Thargomindah to
refuel.

Day 6 Bourke . Mudgee . Sydney

This morning you enjoy a short tour around Bourke, visiting
a number of historic sites of this inland port on the Darling
River. From here you fly to Mudgee, where you enjoy lunch
and a visit to a number of wineries Late afternoon we
re-board the aircraft for the flight to Sydney.
