Our Annul Black Tie holiday event was held by Zoom at the family owned Le Muscadin. Charles and Josee Iocono have operated this well established Italian Family Cuisine for over thirty years, and the Montreal chapter has had many fine live events. Le Muscadin has exceptional cuisine, featuring traditional Italian dishes with an elegant touch. Our menu has been designed especially for our Year-End Gathering and will be prepared with the freshest ingredients and Italian Imports.

The Black Tie Event Zoom was Black Tie (at least from the waist up) and enjoyed by a large number of members on Zoom.

Course I

Food: Polipo alla Griglia Grilled octopus on a bed of quinoa with chorizo and chickpeas Linguine al Nero di Seppia con Vongole Squid ink infused linguine in a white wine sauce with fresh tomato and clams Insalata alla Gorgonzola Baby gem lettuce, gorgonzola, garlic and herb croutons, gorgonzola dressing Choice of: Ossobuco Milanese Braised veal shank served with vegetable and potatoes Pesce al Capo Bianco Fresh cod in a white wine, lemon, and caper sauce, served with vegetables and potatoes Filetto di Manzo al Pepe Nero Filet mignon with a black peppercorn sauce, served with vegetables and potatoes Torta di Mele e Cannoli Homemade miniature apple pie and a Chef’s cannoli

Wine: CELLAR MASTER’S NOTES ON WINE White Wine From Abruzzo in the east of Italy, Pecorino has seen something of a revival in the last decade or so, but much of it quite cheap and cheerful stuff, made in large volumes: highly quaffable, if undistinguished. The Tiberio family's Pecorino is a bit different, from a single hillside vineyard planted on clay, fruit from the 20-year-old vines is fermented with wild yeasts and winemaker Cristiana Tiberio strives for balance, freshness and authenticity. This wine offers an invigorating blast of intense citrus on nose and, especially, palate, as decisive as any higher-acid brisk and bracing style, but there is also delicacy, some white flowers on the nose, the wild yeast adding complex nutty and lightly earthy characters, but the bone-dry fruit and acid axis driving to the end of a terrific, if uncompromising wine. Red Wine Castello de Ama 2017 Chianti Classico - From Tuscany, Italy. A vibrant, bright Sangiovese from the traditional heartland of Chianti, filled with ripe notes of cherry and Asian spice. A terrific wine that opens to a mid-weight feel but produces an enormously expressive bouquet. The 2017 hot vintage has created warm tones of earth and dark fruit but it is all carefully weighed and in context.
