Any Port in a Storm!

Following on the success of its December virtual wine tasting event, the Kansas City, Missouri Branch held an interactive, educational tasting of fortified wines from two of the greatest producers of Tawny, Ruby and Vintage Ports.  Led by Rich Zellich of Pinnacle Imports, Certified Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers, members explored wines of different age statements, and examined the differences between vintage and nonvintage bottlings.  For this tasting experience, participants were also given dark chocolate and roasted almonds and encouraged to obtain a creamy blue cheese to enhance their understanding of the interplay of Port pairings.  Niepoort Tawny Port, Niepoort 20 Year Tawny Port, Quinta do Noval “Black Port”, and Quinta do Noval LBV (Late Bottle Vintage) 2014 Port
