Neil & Bug Cruickshank hosted a tasting designed to show the differing, and very distinct, styles of Scottish whisky from the main producing areas: Islay, Lowland, Highland and Speyside.

 

We tasted: GLENMORANGIE  "QUINTA RUBAN” (12 years),  OBAN (12), GLENLIVET  "FRENCH OAK" (15), ARDBEG (12), GLENDRONACH (15), CAOL ILA (12) & GLENKINCHIE (12).  The Glendronach was the most popular.

 

The tasting was followed by a dinner at the nearby Ristorante Pappagallo, a long time favorite of the Cayman members, where we drank Gaja's 2000 Barbaresco and Sperss (barolo) 1999, providing an interesting opportunity to compare to top class nebbiolo based wines from a great producer.
