Privacy Policy

To manage the Society effectively and to communicate with its members, the Society must store and process their personal information. This information may include names, addresses, telephone and fax numbers and e-mail addresses, and in the case of joint membership, the member’s partner, together with records of dues paid, attendance at events, and appointments and awards made by the Society. The information may have been provided directly by you, or it may be derived from records presently held by the Society, its regions or its branches.

Member records are not released to any other organisation without your consent, unless we are required to do so by law, other than to distribute Society materials such as Newsletters or Society Accounts and Reports.  In this case, your name and address may be provided on a confidential basis to a mailing house.  It should also be noted that the names, addresses and contact information for officials of the Society may be shown on the members’ area of the Society’s website and in its publications.

Each region of the Society will ensure that personal information about its members is stored and processed in compliance with appropriate legislation. You may request a copy of any details we hold about you on our computer systems.  Please send such requests through the appropriate ‘Contact Us’ facility for your region on this website.  Where permitted by law a small fee may be charged for providing this information.

We may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer our website. Your IP address may be used to gather broad demographic information.  This site has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control.  This site may contain links to other sites but we are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites.

Visitors to the website may be asked for contact information which may be forwarded to our regions and branches so they may contact you.  You may opt-out of receiving future mailings as described below.

The Society may contact you from time to time by mail, phone, fax or e-mail, to inform you of events and services which may be of interest to you. Please use the appropriate ‘Contact Us’ facility for your region on this website if you would prefer not to receive such information, if you have any questions or concerns, if you wish to revoke your consent to store your personal information, or if you are unable to correct personal data held about you on this website that you believe to be inaccurate.  If you revoke your consent then we regret that we shall be unable to maintain your registration to the Members’ only area of the website and may be unable to supply you with the full range of member services.
