NewsNews Update - November 2011 New Branches APZ has now seen three new branches formed during 2011. Shanghai (CHINA): IWFS Shanghai was formed on Januray 19 2011, headed up by Founding President Mr Yi Wang. A celebratory dinner was held in Shanghai in late January, attended by APZ Chair Yvonne Wallis. Seoul (SOUTH KOREA): On September 20 2011, a second branch for the year was formed. The inaugural dinner was held on November 26. IWFS Seoul is headed up by Mr Jinhwan Jung, who met APZ's Vice President Andrew Fegent on holiday in France in June. Not only did they establish a common interest in cycling, but also in wine and food. Three months later, IWFS Seoul was born with ten like-minded founding members. A big welcome to IWFS Seoul! Western Australia (AUSTRALIA): Our newest branch was formed on October 20 2011, headed up by Founding President Mr Ulrich Kunzmann and with 16 founding members. The inaugural dinner was held on November 27 at the the Perth Exhibition and Convention Centre attended by 60 guests. IWFS APZ now has three branches in Australia. The founding date for IWFS Western Australia is an auspicious date. IWFS worldwide was founded by Andre Simon on 20 October 1933, some 78 years earlier to the day. IWFS Philippines was also founded on October 20, back in 1982. We warmly welcome IWFS WA to the IWFS family. Singapore APZ AGM Weekend - 5/6 November 2011 This year's AGM was held in Singapore in early November with almost 140 delegates attending the event, the largest number of delegates to ever attend an APZ AGM Weekend. The President of IWFS Ltd, John Avery MW, flew in from London to tutor the Pinot Tasting which included an impressive line up of Pinots from around the world. The Gala Dinner featured wines from Chateau Palmer and a guest from Chateau Palmer attended the dinner. Our optional lunch on Monday 7th was held at Les Amis, one of Singapore's top restaurants, and this was heavily sponsored by Les Amis. The weekend was absolutely splendid.
