You've no doubt heard a joke or two about Cleveland over
the years. We've been the punchline to many a late night
television comedy routine but you know what? Clevelanders
are used to that. It doesn't really bother us the way you think
it would. Yes, our sports teams have struggled over the
years. Yes, our river once caught fire way back in the day.
Yes, Lebron chose to take his talents somewhere else. But
here's the thing about Cleveland: we're survivors. Look up
the word "stoic" in the dictionary and you should see a
picture of a Clevelander. We know how to survive tough
times and tough weather.

Why do we do it? Why do we live and work and play here?
Because there's something you don't know about Cleveland.
We have some of the most picturesque countryside next to a
major metropolitan area that you've ever seen. Go ahead,
don't believe it. If you live here, you know it's true. It gets
even better. We've known all along what the rest of the
country is just starting to realize: Cleveland has one of the
most interesting, dynamic, and diverse restaurant scenes in
the country. Other people might be startled to realize that we
have an "Iron Chef" cooking right here in town but not
Clevelanders. If anything, we're amused and surprised that
it's taken anybody this long to realize that if you want a
terrific meal, you can find one in Cleveland at a variety of
restaurants.

We, the members of the Cleveland Branch of the
International Wine & Food Society, invite you to check out
our portion of the site from time to time. As you read about
our meals and our interest in wines and look at our pictures,
we think you'll realize that Cleveland is a wonderful place
to live if you love good food and enjoy good wine.
